OUR ADVICE
Selecting a tent for use in the outdoors is an important decision since not all tents are designed to withstand severe weather conditions. We recommend tents that have a rain fly that entends almost to ground to prevent rain from blowing inside. A tent with doors on both sides and dual vestibules make it easy to enter and stow your backpacking equipment. Be sure that your sleeping bag doesn't touch the side of your tent (typically in the foot area) since this will cause water to enter your sleeping bag. Of course weight is also a very important consideration. The lightest ultralight tent we carry is the Easton Kilo tent which is a 2 person tent that weights just 2.2 pounds. Our lightest tarp tent is the Vaude Refuge which weights just under two pounds. If you are seeking a basic tent for camping at a great price (but still has the features we recommend) check out the Vaude Campo tent.
