OUR ADVICE

Each of our stoves were designed for a specific purpose or type of backpacker in mind.  If you are looking for the lightest alcohol stove we make, our original alcohol stove called the Triad, is still our lightest design (weighs 1 ounce).  The Triad is also the most compact and made of one one-piece construction. 

The Triad XE, although looks similar to the Triad stove, functions very differently and is specifically designed as an alcohol burner or as a fuel tab stove.  Alcohol is difficult to light in cold temperatures or high elevation so for four season cooking, we recommend the Triad XE stove.

The down side of the Decagon backpacking stove is that you have to wait for it to prime before placing your pot on top (otherwise you will extinguish the priming flame).  However, if you have a tendency to be tough on your gear, then the Decagon was designed for you. There are no moving parts to the Decagon so nothing to break and it offers reliable performance.
